    They’re not going to replace, say, Medicare without raising taxes, and they need some kind of self-defense force, too. In the end, they can probably pay less for better services, but they can’t replace everything the federal gov does without some kind of tax increase.

      Canadians have healhcare and - typically - 1% less taxes for most earners. Replacing the vaaaaastly overpriced healthcare system in America with anything else is a net savings.

        We also probably don’t need to outspend the next dozen or so countries combined for defense.
