“Farmers” are just plant landlords. They are wealthy, they exploit labor. That’s why farmers are all right wing.
The effect on food prices will be minimal. The farms that are suffering were those growing foods for export only. Farms that supply our food are doing fine.
wealth in the context I used it is far more about accumulated wealth and savings rather than income. A junior congressmember hasn’t had that salary for long and could be easily coerced by a shutdown very quickly, if congressional pay was cut during a shutdown.
You’re right. The US already has the solution under the NLRA. If a union contract cannot be negotiated by the deadline, the old one remains in effect.
A proper government could do that, but I prefer kicking everyone out and starting anew.
Because the purpose of a CEO is wealth transfer. Controlling the company is purely incidental.
Elections are run locally. You can get involved.
voter suppression. non proportional representation.
the pitifully low voter turnout is a systemic issue.
This is how it’s always worked.
If members of congress were not paid, the richer members could use a shutdown to coerce the poorer members, knowing that they have enough saving to survive the payment stop longer than poorer members. In a government where shutdowns are possible, continuing to pay representatives is necessary.
In a proper country, a shutdown would result in an immediate recall and disbarment of every elected official. But we don’t live in a proper country.
Continuing to pay those responsible for the shutdown is a bad thing. Punishing every other government worker for someone else’s ineptitude is bad. But on balance not paying congress would probably be just a bit worse.
State governors do have the authority to deploy the national guard within their own borders. Its pretty well agreed upon both internationally and domestically that its fine to send a military into a sovereign state upon request of the local government.
I dislike governor gavin, but requesting the guard when he did is within his authority as governor.
Anyone calling this hypocrisy doesn’t understand the concept of consent.
Doesn’t matter what you’re asking for. Anything can be vetoed.
The UN was formed after WWII and it was a scheme by the allies to cement their power going forward. All permanent security council members with veto power were the winning side of WWII.
The UN basically has no powers against the wishes of any member with a veto.
US has veto power. There is no possible way for the UN to do anything.
The UN is flawed by design.
They let him host the Olympics, so yeah probably.
Also the US has veto power at the UN. So nothing can be done unless the US approves. Since the US enthusiastically supports genocide, nothing can be done.
Open puts on the company you’re about to officially insult to profit on the way down too.
No. Its fine to have mismatched data between state and federal. The feds trust their own databases unless you provide them contradictory information.
At least from my reading about my state its not an issue. However it is an issue if federal records don’t match other federal records. Don’t change the gender on your passport without changing it with social security, but also you can’t they’re refusing changes. If the feds get contradictory information it will flag their databases and send you a notice. You’ll need a lawyer if that happens.
Research it yourself, your state may vary, but I have not yet had any issues.
Being a nuisance.
I’m more impressed by the number of unions.
