  • My favorite was AFTER unsubscribing from Hulu and Disney+, I got an email about an upcoming price hike:

Upcoming Hulu Price Change Dear Member, Thank you for being part of the Hulu community. We’re so glad you’ve enjoyed everything we have to offer, from blockbuster movies, to brand-new series and exclusive Originals.

As part of our continued investment in delivering world-class entertainment, the price of your Disney+, Hulu Bundle will increase to $12.99/month on your first billing cycle on or after October 21, 2025. Your plan will automatically renew at the new price unless you switch plans or cancel via Account before then.

You do not need to take any action to continue enjoying Hulu and Disney+.

    Talk about tone deaf.

Edit: the email was dated the 23rd.

  • But everybody just wants to sit around and be sad about it instead of actually trying to make a difference.

This makes me a little indignant to read because it shows me that you understand absolutely nothing about declining mental health and how much of an impact it can have on people, their well-being, and their ability to do … things.

If fewer people had your mentality, maybe the sad, depressed, and chronically stressed out people suffering from very real trauma could get the help they so desperately deserve.

Life pro tip: when someone says they are tired, they don’t mean they’re sleepy or lazy. It means they are beaten down so hard that their only sane course of action is to simply stay down, lest they get beaten more.

  • But I’m saying, why do we have to sexualise it? Because a few people do? Because someone at Meta knew some person would and used it as a sly marketing technique?

This is why. Especially because Meta is doing it as a “sly marketing technique”; they are exploiting a child using her sexuality without her express consent (I don’t give af what the ToS says about implicit consent), and now if anybody who has seen those ads, sees her on the streets they might harass her about it.

It’s noble of you to want to keep normal things normal. In a perfect world, none of this would be an issue at all, and Meta would’ve reached out to the girl and/or her parents to ask for permission. People wouldn’t be up in arms about it, and we’d all be living happy, productive lives as a utopian society.

But that’s not the word we live in, and pretending otherwise is a disservice to those who are exploited. We must recognize the atrocities for what they are, and act accordingly.
