They built what people back then told them wanted all along: if you give us music with a cheap subscription we won’t bother pirating.

What that did to artists and music quality is another matter altogether.

I understand, it’s just a weird behavior from a southern Europe point of view: when it’s cold outside we close the windows to keep it out.

In Germany people seem to like opening windows when entering a room, even in the middle of the winter. Or maybe I only know weird Germans.

A few central/northern European countries also don’t believe in curtains.

I feel sad that I can’t boycott these spineless cowards because I haven’t been a customer since forever.

A dumpster fire with an orange clown as president and firestarter in chief, burning all the good will the international allies had towards it. Deeply sad and worrisome, just when we needed them the most given the Russia/China threat.

It sometimes is, but then sometimes Linux is not to blame.

Yesterday I was installing CachyOS on my son’s laptop, because that’s what he chose to use instead of Windows 10. The desktop came up fine, but no wifi adaptor was detected. I could try another more mainstream distro, but I wanted my kid to have what he chose. So we went troubleshooting. Googled the laptop model, found the adaptor, found the matching kernel module, checked the logs… and there it was, a cryptic error -110. Googled that and there was an answer: disable Windows Fast Boot.

It turns out that Windows locks the wifi adaptor when shutting down in Fast Boot mode. So after disabling it and a couple of reboots later, CachyOS was installing flawlessly.

It served as a lesson for me and an example for my kid to persevere and learn more.
