Nah I think you’ve gone too far off the wrong end. People talking about ‘adulting’ is a joke, it just references being uncomfortable with not having someone with more ‘authority’ to fall back on, and it’s something that is cited in various ways over the millenia in various media.

I don’t think what you’re proposing is wrong in terms of ‘would it be beneficial’ but I don’t think it wholly misses the idea of ‘is it feasible’ and not just in monetary terms. As it stands, today, if I had to raise my kids in a ‘village’ in this state, I’d sooner enroll them in Scientilogy For Kids in hopes the joint brainwashing cancels itself out.

I have a little, it’s to try and get me and my partner the hell out of this state. Not enough for a house, but enough for a used car and a u-haul and first and last month’s rent somewhere else.

A lot of us are living paycheck to paycheck, we’re lucky to be a bit above that and not have kids. Almost all the people we know from high school and college are in worse boats than us.

And advocating for a general strike is ILLEGAL and a very easy charge in Trump’s America at this point.

I’ve been rolling around forums and whatnot to see the interest for such topics, and they seem high, but no one is talking about what I’m supposed to do to pay for my pets and apartment when I have 0 support structures in a deeply red state. They don’t treat the homeless very well here, and it’s freezing half the year.

Not that you’re saying it’s easy, you rightly pointed out food too. I just wish there were more resources, or ways to get connected. My community does the No Kings protests, but most of them balked at the Kirk shooting so they’re not quite radicalized enough for the other actions that a not-entirely-peaceful protest would bring.

I’m not saying it’s essential, I’m saying you’re needlessly limiting your reach by NOT using it to communicate for outreach. Shitty platform, shitty people, shitty creators/owners, shitty advertisers, shitty business practices, still a place people are at numbers HIGHER than most of our favorite federated platforms. So, to not use it when your goal is to reach as many people as possible, seems counterproductive.

You can consider it bought and paid for propaganda, but people were still getting some emergency services ONLY over Twitter (yes, dumb, but they don’t really get to pick where their city hosts that info)

In that same vein, there is presence and there are people and getting the message to as many people as possible is the point. They should even post on 4-chan while they’re at it, to keep it broad.

I don’t think the people downvoting know that there’s really people out here putting American craft singles slices on their spaghetti. I should know, I’m related to a couple of them. Seen it a good chunk of my life, almost always in poorer homes, from the southern US and a few times here in the midwest.
