I’m just gonna paste a response I had to another similar post a while back:

Not who you asked, but I can tell you where I’m at with that. My primary listening is on an mp3 player, and I also use a home server for listening on speakers/tv. Switching to a separate device used only for music has made my listening far more deliberate. When I pick up the player, I’m making a point to listen to music, not just have it on in the background like I used to. It’s also a pain in the ass (comparitively) to make playlists on it (I purposely chose a scroll-wheel style and no touch screen) so I’m listening to a lot of full albums now, which I never really did before, exposing me to a lot more than I used to since I don’t just throw the song or two I like on a playlist and leave the rest.

There’s been an interesting side effect that I didn’t expect: Being more deliberate with my listening has sharpened my ear to music, I hear music in movies and shows in a way I never used to, I’m beginning to recognize voices and band styles by ear, I actually focus on music now instead of it just being part of the background. As such, I find a lot of new music these days by looking up songs from movies and tv. For example, the most recent:

• I completely devoured the Sinners soundtrack. (Ludwig Göransson is a fave and I’ve always been a fan of Buddy Guy)

• Watching Dope Thief, I realized I never skipped the intro. Got me hooked on Little Simz

• James Gunn has some great taste. Beyond season 1 of Peacemaker, Season 2 has already got me absolutely loving Foxy Shazam, and after the latest ep I’ve been getting into Hardcore Superstar.

• Strangely enough, Rick and Morty has some bangers in the later seasons, and got me listening to stuff I never would have like Kishi Bashi.

Additionally, there’s the news. I’ve been listening to Bob Vylan and Kneecap, and only heard of them because they stood up to support Palestinians.

Not only has my listening become more deliberate, but my sourcing of new music has as well. No longer relying on an algorithm to do the work for me has allowed me to hone a new skill and learn how to find new music myself.

I’m a voice actor and musician, and moved to Linux about a month and a half ago with Ubuntu Studio. I went from using Adobe Audition and Cubase to Reaper and Bitwig, and highly recommend both. Reaper is WAY more powerful than I realized. For FOSS you could try Ardour, I’ve heard good things. Personally I hated it haha, but that may just be because I tried Ardour first after switching to Linux and had the learning curve of both a new OS/audio setup and a new DAW at the same time with a project due day-of.

The biggest issues I had was just getting audio to work properly. I was stuck using ALSA for a few weeks, which worked but only allows one program to use audio at once. I very much recommend looking into using JACK and setting up pipewire.

You can absolutely start just recording via mic and editing from there. If you want to hook up instruments, check out midi controllers. Some plugins are extremely helpful for creating a more polished sound like eq, compressors, limiters, etc. If the space you’re recording in doesn’t have the best sound treatment, Reaper has a great noise reduction plugin called ReaFIR. It’s a little more aggressive than I like but works really well (feel free to ask me how to use it if you’re having problems).

My recommendation is to start with Reaper (it’s got a free trial that you can keep using beyond the end date) and get your hardware working. After that, record a few tracks, throw them together into your DAW of choice, and play around with them.

My point is even with only 30 minuntes, yes, when fascism has already taken root those minutes should be spent on fighting back however possible.

I mean, yes? The system is designed to keep everyone too exhausted/stress/scared to bother trying to do anything. At this point in the US, if you only have 4 hours of your day to educate yourself on the current situtation, talk to others about it, and do something (even if it seems like just a drop in the ocean), yes, abso-fucking-lutely yes, spend those 4 hours doing that!

I’m not sure you understand what it means to “lean left”. The left tends to focus more on compassion, sympathy, and empathy. Regardless of their management position, you were in the wrong, so yes, you owe them an apology.

Take responsibility for your actions, apologize when you’re in the wrong, treat people with respect. This is what it means to lean left.

But he’ll fit MUCH better as an example. They’re not gonna throw away an opportunity to publicly execute him to show what happens if you dare to attack one of theirs. He’s in custody, they’re already spinning the narrative that he was brainwahsed into radical leftism, they’re not gonna just knock him off. He’s a pocket ace if they play their cards right.

China absolutely has interest in Americans, just not in the way you’d think. Social media is addictive, and TikTok is no exception. Quick bursts of media that result in dopamine hits creates addiction and eyes glued to a screen that can push whatever agenda China wants. Studies have shown social media and ai have an affect on intelligence and learning, and China knows full well that in the long game, this results in the dumbing down of society.

TikTok is doing exactly what it was designed for, sowing division and misinformation to destabalize the US. It works too.

Robinson will be the example. They’ll keep pushing the angle that he was radicalized by the left, then push Utah to bring back public executions. All in the name of Charlie Kirk.

Not just ICE. Republicans are talking about putting a Turning Point USA chapter in every school in the country. They’re stacking the next generation with Hitler Youth indocrination to avoid that pesky “loyalty to the constitution”

I’m not sure, what’s on demand mode? I had to roll back to 550 and get plasmashell freezing. 570 wouldn’t play video in my video editing program. Might try going to Nouveau and see how that works

This is why it’s so important to vote based on policy, not party names or “teams”. Parties can name themselves whatever they want (within reason) and they evolve and change as well. Canada right now is a good example. The current Liberal party is basically the Conservative party of the 90s. Just look at policy and leave the brand out of it.

Never forget, North Korea calls itself The Democratic Republic of North Korea. The Nazis were called The National Socialist German Worker’s Party. Words have meaning, even when they don’t.
