its actually pretty bad now, posts from r/teacher piqued my interest. and its mostly the teacher saying students are reading at a 1-6 grade level in HS, reading comprehension is very kindergarden at their age, plus writing paragraphs and essays, forget it. also writing, pronouncing is another matter. Math is also pretty poor in these students too.(COVID did kinda make it worst). grammar and paper writing is way above thier “knowledge”
