When they came for Jerry, I didn’t even blink for I wasn’t Jerry.

When they came for Ben, I started to get anxious, but was sure it’d pass.

But when they went for &, there wasn’t anyone to care about guys with bad posture like me.

In 2000, Unilever acquired Ben & Jerry’s for about $326 million.

Well that’s what you get for being a bunch of greedy capitalist pigs and selling your company. Maybe you should start another company called Jerry & Ben’s and not sell out this time

Just call it BJs. The ads would be hilarious. “Stay at home and enjoy a BJs” “Can’t beat the soft and creamy sensation of BJs”

They wanted the ability to maintain their social stances through the business. They put it in the contract.

According to Jerry, the contract isn’t being honoured.

…I imagine, according to Jerry’s lawyer, it’s just barely being honoured by the legal definition.

You do realize you’re referencing something from 25 years ago right?

This isn’t the traditional “big corporation buys something and then makes changes” situation. For 25 years Unilever has been fine with B&J doing their thing.

Something has changed, that’s notable. Dismissing it as traditional big corpo shit is stupid.

Broooo…. 2000 is no different than now in terms of selling out, becoming a billionaire, and then crying about how you have no more control.

You must be young… too young to actually remember 2000 vividly. It’s the same shit, just better phones.

Ah yes the classic, “you’re young, you don’t know anything”. The same shit boomers have been telling everyone to dismiss criticism for decades and still do today. Get the fuck out of here with that shit.

Things are different now than they were at the turn of the century, and if you can’t see that then you’re either an idiot, or part of the problem.

Lmfao, when you talk about a decade inaccurately, don’t be surprised when someone who was there calls you on your shit.

Stop making excuses for billionaires. You cannot become or remain a billionaire without being a total fucking asshole deep down.

Calls me on my shit? How did I say anything inaccurate? I made no claims about the decade. Your reading comprehension seems to be non-existent.

I simply pointed out that Unilever seemingly didn’t give a shit about B&J’s social stances for 25 years, so trying to claim this is at all like the standard things that corporations change when buying out companies is ridiculous.

I’m making no excuses at all, the exact opposite in fact. I’m pointing out that something else is the reason for this and for whatever reason you seem to be trying to act like this is normal business as usual.

Why are you trying to insist that there’s nothing to see here?

No, B&J didn’t give a shit about the long and terrible history that Unilever had for the last 25 years.

But please, keep explaining it into something else.

And yet for 25 years B&J have been able to do what they do without serious interference, now suddenly there’s a major issue.

But go ahead, keep trying to say everything is the exact same and nothing has changed. Keep sticking that head in the sand.

He can start a new ice cream company. There’s got to be at least a dozen national brands and dozens of regional ice cream
