Three people familiar with the federal probe into Kirk’s assassination told NBC News that investigators have yet to find a link between the alleged shooter and left-wing groups.

The federal investigation into the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk has yet to find a link between the alleged shooter, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, and left-wing groups on which President Donald Trump and his administration have pledged to crack down after the killing, three sources familiar with the probe told NBC News.

One person familiar with the federal investigation said that “thus far, there is no evidence connecting the suspect with any left-wing groups.”

“Every indication so far is that this was one guy who did one really bad thing because he found Kirk’s ideology personally offensive,” this person continued.

In addition, two of the people familiar with the probe said it may be difficult to charge Robinson at the federal level for Kirk’s killing, while the third source said there is still an expectation that some kind of federal charge is filed against Robinson.

Factors that have complicated the effort to bring charges at the federal level include that Robinson, a Utah resident, did not travel from out of state; Kirk was shot during an open campus debate at Utah Valley University. Additionally, Kirk himself is not a federal officer or elected official.

A Justice Department spokesperson said, “The investigation is ongoing and beyond that we decline to comment.”

          Lmao did you happen to see the president’s speech right after it happened (not to mention the sentiment of basically his entire cabinet)? Are you honestly saying him and his cabal didn’t already pin this on a particular group of people before looking at any actual evidence or even waiting for there to be any actual evidence?

                We will see when he’s convicted and shown to be motivated by his own morals and not so much politics.

                  I’m genuinely curious. How is this in any way a theory?

                  The day it happened the president said:

                  “For years, those on the radical left have compared wonderful Americans, like Charlie, to Nazis and the world’s worst mass murderers and criminals. This kind of rhetoric is directly responsible for the terrorism that we’re seeing in our country today, and it must stop right now…From the attack on my life in Butler, Pennsylvania last year, which killed a husband and father, to the attacks on ICE agents, to the vicious murder of a healthcare executive in the streets of New York, to the shooting of House majority leader, Steve Scalise and three others, radical left political violence has hurt too many innocent people and taken too many lives.”

                  Days later he said:

                  “The radicals on the left are the problem, and they’re vicious and they’re horrible and they’re politically savvy. They’re already under major investigation, A lot of the people that you would traditionally say are on the left are already under investigation.”

                  Vice President JD Vance on a podcast right after the murder said:

                  “Of course, we have to make sure that the killer is brought to justice, and more importantly, we have to talk about this incredibly destructive movement of left-wing extremism that has grown up over the last few years and, I believe, is part of the reason why Charlie was killed by an assassin’s bullet.”

                  Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller when asked about “the radical left” just after the murder said:

                  “It is a vast domestic terror movement, with god as my witness, we are going to use every resource we have at the Department of Justice, Homeland Security and throughout this government to identify, disrupt, dismantle and destroy these networks and make America safe again for the American people. It will happen, and we will do it in Charlie’s name.

                  Attorney General Pam Bondi just after the murder was asked "who killed Charlie Kirk to which she answered:

                  Left-wing radicals and they will be held accountable.”

                  Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins recently stated:

                  “Charlie’s murder is proof that the radical left won’t allow Americans to make our country great again without a fight. Now is the time to wage war, not through aimless violence, but with a legal and rational crackdown on the forces that are desperately trying to annihilate our nation.”

                  I could go on (and on and on) but this is so astoundingly clear who they are blaming for this and not only that, but for basically all of the violence in this country. It’s not conjecture. It’s not a theory. They are straight up saying it… An investigation may or may not prove that a certain group carried this act out or any others but that has absolutely no bearing on who they are very clearly blaming right now. I mean do you really, truly think this is some kind of conspiracy theory that people just made up??

                    Yes they might have jumped the gun, but the FBI is being honest here and I don’t see why such outrage about what they’re supposedly going to do when they’ve said the opposite.

                    Just trying not to be the left wing version of r/conservative. Sadly that shipped has sailed here it seems.

                  But that’s the point. The entire administration started out from the conclusion as soon as it happened. That’s what people heard. It makes people think it was the “violent left” that did it no matter the facts
