One of the downsides of pirating is that I have no streaming service to cancel.
But although our next vacation was going to be a trip to a Disney park, we’ve now changed our plans.
It’s seeding time
You’re already doing your part. Keep up the Good Work!
Kimmel and Colbert should start a new, online studio/network. They could attract real talent. They could start small like College Humor or Funny or Die and build from there.
We need socially responsible people in charge of media. I’m actually surprised at how easily the media has caved.
I’m sure Stewart would enthusiastically join, too. He and Colbert always had quite an amusing interplay back when they were back-to-back
Stewart has comedy central, which at the moment, is not as cencorous as Disney.
There’s also likely contract limitations.
Still, it would be great.
Or a less perfect option, Colbert and Kimmel could join Comedy Central, but again, I think there’s contract limitations.
The media hasn’t “caved”. Corporate media’s only principle is more money and power for the elites that own it, and they’re acting on that as always.
That takes a lot of time and investment. If you look at what Don lemon is doing, you can see the type of sponsors he’s getting.
their Strike Force Five podcast was pretty enjoyable
You know what? Something I’ve been thinking about is that it’s great that a lot of people are boycotting multinationals for supporting the silencing the critics of the racist, bigot Charlie Kirk but what are we doing at the local level?
I just noticed a car dealership, a dealership we did look at for a new car a while back, flying their giant flag at half mast in remembrance of the racist, bigot Charlie Kirk and then a apartment complex just down the way doing to it too. I know as a minority that those places are going to be avoided like the plague going forward.
But that makes me think there really needs to be more boycott at the local level where the impacts are well just more impactful on the day to day. I already use sites like public square to help avoid Republican shops locally but I don’t know of any resources that track those local companies who do self report themselves.
Food for thought in this fight against Republican fascism.
Hell yeah, I’m with you on that - we should remember all the people and entities who kowtowed, from Tim Cook all the way down to your local car dealer
Flag code is just flag code. If it comes down you fly at half. You do it. Most people dont care, just following the orders. I get it though. Fuck these facists
It’s not compulsory unless it’s a government office. If a local business is half-masting for that cunt, they are doing it willingly and proudly. You can fuck right off with your defense of anyone who supports that bigoted corpse. May he rot in hell for his crimes against humanity.
Just following orders is such a Nazi cop out. Sorry but no.
There is no compulsory law and legal punishment for civilians to not fly the flag at half staff for anyone and honestly maybe you could have gotten away with that argument a decade ago when political civility was still somewhat of a thing. Now with a fat orange fascist literally advocating for government to silence free speech, nope. Take your non-binding flag code and well, you know what to do.
Fly the flag for racist, bigot you deserve to be boycotted by people with morals at every level. This country should not be tolerating bullshit like that but here we are, making excuses for those who publicly hate and call for violence against their fellow Americans.
If I cannot fight with my representation, I will fight with my wallet. Cancelled my Disney+/Hulu/ESPN+ account yesterday.
What can I do to help if I never had them in the first place?
Disney owns so so so much of the entertainment industry. There is likely something you are buying that is related to them.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_assets_owned_by_the_Walt_Disney_Company
Can start there.
You can also help more generally by going to protests (our numbers have been so small since the “no kings” day when you all came out). Or joining an organization like DSA or PSL which are the most active organizations nation wide protecting neighborhoods against ICE. Though depending on where you live that may be different. LGBTQ and Immigrant rights organizations, etc.
This is not the time to ONLY boycott Disney. And going out an touching grass does SIGNIFICANTLY more than cancelling your Disney+ subscription (if you had one).
You’ll get addicted to it. The feeling of solidarity with others is like nothing else if you’re looking to become active.
If not your time then your money can help. But we really really need more bodies in the streets. I wish everyone that cancelled their Disney+ would also come out and stand in front of an ICE facility this weekend with us. Bring eye protection and a mask.
Do you know anyone who still does?
Call local and state reps
Either let him back on the air without any new restrictions OR you pay out his contract and remove any non competes so he can use his talent elsewhere.
Good. Boycott all of it. This terror regime gets its money from somewhere, and it’s good to save yours.
I mean, I was already basically boycotting them. They ain’t got nothin I really want to watch, nor do I much care for theme parks or cruise lines.
Boycotts need to be permanent. Brief displays of protest don’t amount to enough long term pressure.
If we can’t execute a full labor strike, we need a sustained effort that severely harms bad businesses or bankrupts them.
I don’t find it at all surprising that Disney are on the side of paedophiles… I mean I always had my suspicions from the moment that I heard they specifically look for ‘attractive’ children and churn them out.
I can’t be the only one that always thought that is weird. Children are not attractive.
You may not like the specific wording but you still know what’s being discussed. Some people, kids included, are weird looking and off putting. The opposite of that can be called many things and you know what most people mean by when they say it.
I know what most people mean when they say it. My concern is when the likes of Disney say it, then pay them to perform for them leading to many kids having complex issues from a very young age, and we already know the woeful story of the child actor and the future adult. You could always ask Corey.
I “cut the cord” years ago and haven’t looked back, so I’m asking my parents to make notes about which advertisements they see on our local ABC affiliate. You can find yours here:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ABC_television_affiliates_(by_U.S._state)
The plan is to not only boycott those products, but also to call or email those companies and tell them I’m boycotting their products and why.
