Votes in the House were split with 90 Democrats voting in favor of the resolution. The resolution received unanimous support in the Senate.
That’s ridiculous.
The democrats (most of them) are such fucking cucks.
He will condone the bad in order to prevent the worse and in so doing no longer discern that the very thing that he seems to avoid as worse might well be better. This is where the basic material of tragedy is to be found.
- Dietrich Bonhoeffer, “After Ten Years”
Fuck that.
I ain’t celebrating the life of some racist misogynistic shithead.
I was cut off in traffic today and they had written “God bless Charlie Kirk” on their back window which just made me even angrier than the fact they cut me off.
Each vote by a POS idiot.
This makes me feel sick
Celebrate Kirk’s death. Burn him in effigy. Call it “a good start.”
Hijack the day and turn it into a memorial for all gun violence victims, it will piss off the Republicans and maybe do a little good. Probably not though.
I love this idea.
Agree, genius! We could also hijack it as “Political Assassination Victims Day” and cover Epstein!
Thank you for posting this.
I really don’t understand why the Dems are propping up an objectively horrible person.
I get why the pedo party is of course
Because they are cucks. They like to watch our country get f***ed.
They ask more of people’s ignorance than they do of their virtue.
Why don’t we have Melissa Hortman rememberance day? She was actually a politician.
Performative civility. The dems would hold a vigil for Hitler if their consultants said it would appeal to uncommitted moderate voters.
And I don’t understand why they would choose October 14th, which is George Floyd’s birthday.
Just refuse to acknowledge Carotid Artery Charlie and hijack that shit right back:
Because it’s a chance to tacitly insult the late George Floyd, his family and friends, all his supporters, the ‘other team’, and the entire anti-racism movement that has pissed them off so much. They’re not going to pass up an opportunity like that.
Early christians decided to make Xmas in December to align with when pagans were celebrating winter solstice, in order to appropriate the holiday for themselves.
Not saying that’s entirely the reason, but it sure is convenient for them to add their noise.
It’s also Charlie Kirk’s birthday, just 20 years later
Fear. That’s why. The right is so unhinged that they fear for their lives.
Not that they are going to be safe anyways.
It’s because the democratic party at large is a fascist-lite party, so they have little qualms about honoring full blown fascists. That and they love nothing more than propping up the idea that we need to keep decorum up at all times.
They also operate under the absurd notion that they can sway Republican voters if they keep moving to the right.
Not shooting your political opponents isn’t just “decorum.”
Honoring a guy who openly wanted genocide in Gaza and wanted to have trans people at home killed also isn’t “decorum” but I guess that’s too complex for you to understand
On Friday, the House also approved the resolution, despite 96 Democrats declining to support it.
Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, whose husband Paul was the victim to political violence himself, was among the 22 Democrats who walked out without voting on the Kirk resolution, but did vote on the short-term government funding bill. Four Republicans also skipped the vote.
it’s all in the article but i guess that’s “too complex for you to read?”
I don’t understand how that’s a counter to his point. Can you explain?
Which party member shot Charlie Kirk?
I can’t believe that it’s so hard for people to believe that someone who made a career being a hate monger was murdered for it.
The kid who killed him was not a politician, he didn’t even vote. He was in a relationship with someone who belonged to a group that Kirk made money on by saying heinous shit about constantly.
Is there proof he was had a trans girlfriend? I find it hard to believe with everything else coming out about him.
Something something decorum.
I’m not a fan of the Democrats, except that they are the major opposition to the Republicans.
But if you actually want an answer why a theoretical good and honest politician might do something like this, it could be agreements behind the scenes.
If you could get Republicans to stop cutting the ACA subsidies, and the trade-off was something not tangible, like having a day of remembrance for a bad person, you might do it just to save lives.
It is a minority politician’s job to make deals if it furthers their agenda. Obviously, I don’t know if this is what happened here, but it’s theoretically possible.
I sure hope so. Otherwise they are legitimizing a monster for nothing.
Including Rep Sarah McBride, open trans member of Congress voted to memorialize someone that was openly transphobic.
Same corporate shills, different bumper stickers.
Fuck Charlie Kirk.
I went and tried to find some redeeming quality about him and left with nothing. Still shouldn’t have been killed but man he’s not a person you would want to have a national holiday dedicated to.
Yup. Shouldn’t have been murdered (thanks right wing nut job), but he was a real piece of shit.
tried to find some redeeming quality about him
He is dead? I’ll take what I can get these days.
There literally isn’t one redeeming quality
he probably tried to be a good father
I don’t have to explain that obviously he failed
They f-ing agreed to that? OK, they are beyond help.
They are nice fascists, and the sooner liberals realize that, the sooner you can move on to revolution and fix the country.
🫸’National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk’
👉 ‘National Anti Fascist Day’
It’s national police brutality awareness day, since it’s literally also George Floyd’s birthday.
We should have a paid public holiday for all the school shootings. Otherwise known as ubi.
