I setup my own self-hosted mastodon instance and Im curious if there is a way to setup scheduled posts with it? or if I need some other tool.
I know some mobile and desktop apps, along with some websites let you do that, but it would be much nicer if it was just built in so I could do it from the browser and not have to worry if my phone app or laptop is on during the scheduled time.
Does anyone have experience with schedules posts?
The corresponding issue on Github has 381 thumbs up at the moment. It simply has not been implemented into the official Mastodon UI (as most of the others) yet. As you expected so far, this feature is only available in the backend, so you either need to use a tool that was explicitly created for scheduling toots (like FediPlan or Mastodon scheduler), or use a modern app that has implemented this feature, such as Soapbox on the web or Fedilab on Android.
Thats awesome thank you, so with these tools you just schedule the post and then you can close the tab or app and the server will post it?
