Say a friend of mine has one of those dumb mobile game sponsorships, and if he gets 10 people to download the game through the play store, he gets paid. But instead it opens my browser where I tell it to open with Aurora store and download from there. Would that still count as a download with that code or not? Does that make sense?

Or is that still tracking no matter which store it is and where you download is moot?

    Correct me if I’m wrong, but I remember that the anonymous option on the Aurora Store draws from a pool of real Google accounts created by the Aurora team. So it should count.

    No idea if Android lets an app run itself in the background after merely installing it though. If it does, that might let trackers in.

    Depends on what exactly it’s tracking. Is it tracking downloads from the Play Store. Installs based on a tracker embedded in the app once installed, or logins through the app. You’ll likely have to ask the friend to check the terms of the sponsorship to determine that.
