Piefed offered more features (still does) when lemm.ee shut down.

There weren’t that many instances at the time but I just created !newcomers@piefed.zip to decentralize

!movies@piefed.social and !television@piefed.social hopefully took over

I mod quite a few of those, most of them were on lemm.ee

Another reminder to decentralize I guess

Admins usually don’t want to allow direct registrations without email validation as it makes it too easy for spammers

Provider doesn’t really have any downside
