  • Correct. FCC threatens broadcast license. Sinclair superceeded the show. ABC network was threatened on two fronts and capitulated to save their jobs.

The reason this is a big deal is that this isn’t some kind of court of public opinion, like being fired for saying we should exterminate homeless people with lethal injection (oh wait), this is literally the president of the United States coercing censorship of a major broadcaster. Pure 1A violation.

It’s funny because if Trump had backchanneled this and kept his mouth shut this would be much harder to prove. But he just…he just said it on live TV.

  • They’re mad because we wouldn’t support them when they punched down. When they shit on LGBTQA+ people, or women, or PoC and we said “you’re gross” and “freeze peach!”

So now they’re trying to pretend this is “retribution” even though Charlie Kirk was an asshole who deserves to be mocked and cancelled for the bullshit downpunching he spewed, and in this specific instance Trump is mad he got called out for being heartless and the right got called out for foaming at the mouth for genocide of those who don’t agree with them.

Those two things are not equivalent. They just want an excuse to kill and exclaim “look what you made me do!”

  • Their strength is being half a cryptographic key, not that they’re device bound.

That was a “requirement” that big tech wanted, to force you to be dependent on TPM storage, so you’d be forced to use a Trusted™ device and OS. It was made optional after pushback from basically everyone else.

Password managers support Passkeys now. Bitwarden and KeePassX among others.

As long as I trust that my password manager is secure, and as long as I use a strong master password or (better) have a hardware key to unlock it, it is way more secure than a password, and I can still install Linux without losing my logins.
